We were contacted at the end of 2016 by FRA-SYS for the hardware part. In view of the exchanges on our uses and in particular for the design of large models made with the Catia V5 software, the manufacturer perfectly identified the limits we were facing in terms of hardware. Quickly, FRA-SYS proposed us a machine test. This approach is not very frequent, not to say unprecedented. We approached our IT department to organize the integration of this test machine. Thus, we were able to test in February 2017, for a few days, the behavior of the FRA-SYS machine. The test took place in our environment and according to our way of working.
In view of the excellent results obtained, about 30% of performance difference, we legitimately addressed a request for the evolution of our computer park, internally. The FRA-SYS Sales Department has been particularly outstanding during this implementation phase. With their great technical skills and their wise advices, they clearly positioned themselves as our partner, giving us advice on network and server optimization, for example.
To date, we have purchased nearly 40 machines for our various design offices in France and Europe. At the same time, we ask FRA-SYS for any specific problem. We take advantage of the technical lighting and the Research & Development department as on the Virtual Reality part which occupies us at the moment.

In view of the technical exchanges with FRA-SYS, it was agreed to test a first configuration, put in competition with that of the other manufacturers. Thus, we could judge objectively the arguments of each. We tested a second FRA-SYS configuration before we could refine the final machine. Our machines are used in CAD/CAM for three quarters of our activity. Immediately, with the FRA-SYS machine, we noticed an improvement in performance of about 30%.
With 18 months of use, we have not experienced any hardware bugs. The systems are smooth and stable. Our large calculations are much faster and we see a real gain in multi-tasking. Now we can run tasks in parallel and do office work while a process is running.
To find the best configuration, we were accompanied by a detailed analysis of our uses. The technical advice allowed us to work transparently and to buy stations in an optimal configuration.
To date, we have modified half of our fleet and are looking at full homogenization in 2020. There is no question of going back.

PHIMECA is an engineering company that helps its customers to design, dimension and operate their products or structures robustly and reliably. To achieve this, we apply our expertise in numerical simulation and data sciences through studies, consulting, training and development of business applications.
Our engineers are regularly called upon to implement large-scale calculation models, and we therefore need well-suited equipment for finite element calculations and CFD.
In 2014, the FRA-SYS sales department contacted us to offer to test their optimized stations before a potential purchase. They were the only ones to offer this kind of procedure. The DELL stations in place were no match for the performance and stability of the FRA-SYS stations.

The technical department is not to be outdone: responsive and efficient, they quickly took charge of one of our stations that had broken down, diagnosed a motherboard and watercooling problem and replaced the parts.
